AMMU, Oct 31: Vishw-akarma Day was celebrated today with religious fervour by various trade unions and other organizations as the working class worshipped Lord Vishwakarma by performing Pooja of tools, equipments and machines used by them.
The Day was marked with traditional Pooja like every year at Katra. The ritual started with Vishwakarma Pooja and Havan, followed by a rally, which was organized by Mazdoor Dastkar Union (MDU).
Minister of State for Finance, Information Technology, Planning, Parliamentary Affairs, Tribal Affairs, Labour and Employment, Ajay Nanda was chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, he threw light on relevance of the day and engineering miracles of Lord Vishwakarma.
Later, a rally was taken-out, which started from Asia Chowk Kundrorian and culminated at Natali Katra. ASP Katra Sumir Kotwal, SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria, Tehsildar Katra Mohit Raina, SDPO Dr Ashok Sharma, and large numbers of local people were present on the occasion.
Bhagwan Vishwakarma Day celebrations were also held at the Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu, its Seed Processing Unit, Seed Multiplication Farm Chinore and Seed Multiplication Farm Chakrohi by the workers and staff of these units. On this occasion, worship of tools and machines was held and special prayers for safety of the operators and workers were conducted followed by distribution of Prasad.
While addressing officers and workers on the occasion, Director Agriculture Ashok Kumar Malhotra said that the Directorate has identified Agriculture Mechanization as the key to bring about another agriculture revolution for enhancing production and productivity of food and non-food crops.
Besides interacting with the workers of Government Agriculture workshop, the Director also inspected different machines installed at like Sheet Cutting Machine, Sheet Bending Machine, Beading Machine, Power Hammers, Sheet Rolling Machines etc.
The Water5 Works (PHE) Employees Association celebrated the Vishwakarma Day by organizing a function at Kunjwani Workshop of Ground Water and drilling Division of PHE Department, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma, president of the Association.
The officers and employees as well as workers took part in the programme and sought blessings of Bhagwan Vishwakarma besides performing Pooja with traditional fervour. Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar Sharma urged the authorities to restore functioning of non-functional workshops of the department.
The Vishwakarma Labour Union celebrated the ‘Vishwakarma Day’ at Mohalla Hari Singh Rehari, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Vinay Raina, convenor of the Union. M K Dhar, PRO of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was chief guest on the occasion. Prof Kali Dass, general secretary AIBCU also shared his views and demanded a Gazetted Holiday on the Vishwakarma day as there is a holiday on Vishwakarma Day under JK Industries Act. Dhaman Bhasin, general secretary of PDP, Vikas Bhatti and Ashok Kumar Jain also spoke on the occasion.
The employees of State Motor Garages Department Jammu, celebrated the day under the patronage of Zakir Hussain Choudhary, Director State Motor Garages Department, J&K. Syed Muarif Andrabi, Deputy Director State Motor Garages department, Jammu, along with other members also participated in the programme.
To celebrate the Vishwakarma Day & promote the traditional culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan today performed its musical play ” Karma ” in collaboration with Sangam True Art Production at its office compound, Durga Bhawan, Janipur Jammu.
The Play was written and Directed by M L Dogra , former Regional Director of Song and Drama Division. Ministry of Information Broadcasting, Government of India. The program was inaugurated by V K Magotra, former Regional Director of Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, commenced with the Sanskrit Shaloks and song eulogizing Lord Vishwakarma.
Government ITI Basohli celebrated Vishwakarma Day under the supervision of Naresh Singh, Superintendent ITI Basohli .The staff and students of the Institute worshipped Lord Vishwakarma by performing the Puja of tools, equipments and machines used for training programme in ITI.
The day was celebrated with traditional fervor at Vishwakarma Temple, Gurah Morh, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. The celebrations started with Havan in which thousands of followers of Lord Vishwakarma participated. A mass bhandara was also organized by the Sabha.
BJP State president and MLA Sat Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, threw light on the life of Lord Viswakarma and assured the community to support them for their genuine causes. Rashpal Verma (vice chairman, OBC), Kuldeep Raj Verma (ex-vice chairman, OBC), Shashi verma (president, PVS), Manmohan Singh (ex-Corporator), Zorawar Singh (senior journalist) and Chander Mohan Gupta (ex-Corporator), who were guest of honours, also spoke on the occasion.
A similar programme to celebrate Vishwakarma Day was also organized at Rehari Colony by JK Vishwakarma Labour Union. The function was also attended by MLA Sat Sharma, who while speaking on the life of Lord Vishwakarma, said that he was a Hindu God who is considered as creator of the world. He said that Lord Vishwakarma constructed the holy city of Dwarka, where Krishna ruled, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, and was the creator of many fabulous weapons for the gods.
Chairman of JK Vishwakarma Labour Union, Surinder Kumar Sharma, said that it is customary for craftsmen to worship their tools in name of Lord Vishwakarma and refraining from using the tools while doing so. Union president, Kulwant Singh also addressed the gathering.
The Vishwakarma Day was also celebrated with traditional fervor and enthusiasm in a programme held in Rajouri town in which hundreds of technical workers from different walks of life participated. On the occasion, BJYM district president, Raja Rattan Singh, gifted 15 mobile phones to the mechanics of the community, especially those having good technical skills.
MLC Vibodh Gupta, who was chief guest on the occasion while lauding the works of the mechanics, assured them that he will project the genuine demand of community (i.e, declaring holiday on Vishwakarma Day) before the Chief Minister.
Remembering Lord Vishwakarma, the MLC paid tributes to the founder of craft, art, architecture and engineering, who is also known as the God of carpenters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and masons. Terming the efforts of Prime Minister for welfare of technically skilled people, Gupta said that initiatives like Skill India and Make in India are aimed towards overall welfare of these workers, who are one of the main forces behind developing India
