Vishwakarma Day was celebrated in Phagwara. The owners of factories performed the traditional puja along with their workers and paid rich tributes to the deity worshipped by all craftsmen and architects — Lord Vishwakarma.The factory workers cleaned the machines and tools and prayed for a boost in productivity and innovation.The day was celebrated by Shri Vishawkarma Dhiman Sabha, Phagwara, at Vishwakarma Mandir on the local Banga Road. Phagwara MLA Som Prakash, who was the chief guest on the occasion, also donated Rs 5 lakh to the temple.Paying tributes, former minister Joginder Singh Maan, PPCC general secretary Balbir Raja Sodi, Jarnail Nangal, Balbir Rani Sodhi, BSP leader Avtar Singh Karimpuri and other prominent citizens said Lord Vishwakarma was the divine architect of the entire universe, believed to be the master of all machinery and equipment being used in industrial activities.Union minister Vijay Sampla, who was the first to pay obeisance, said promotion of skill training across the state by the state government will be a befitting tribute to Lord Vishwakarma.Gurbachan Singh Dhiman a renowned industrialist of Nakodar, was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at the function.BJP leaders adopted separate timings to cover their differences. While Vijay Sampla visited the Vishawkarma temple in the morning, Phagwara MLA Som Prakash and his wife visited the shrine at noon. Former minister Joginder Singh Maan and PPCC general secretary Balbir Raja Sodhi also adopted a similar method.
Blood donation camp
203 youths donated blood at a blood donation camp organized by the Hindustan Welfare Blood Donors Club led by Vitin Puri and councillor Anurag Mankhand at Vishawkarma Mandir on Monday.
Rs 5 lakh donated
While Phagwara MLA Som Prakash announced Rs 5 lakh for the Vishwakarma Mandir, Amrinder Singh Dhiman donated Rs 3.51 lakh and Gurdarshan Singh Rs 1.51 lakh.
